Sewing Pattern Sale & Blitz

The PatternPatter Team on Etsy is having a blitz. What is a blitz, you ask? The team's vintage pattern sellers will list as many patterns as possible on Thursday April 25th. Several of the team's shops are also running sales. If you love vintage patterns like I do, you won't want to miss this event!

Take a peek at this discussion thread where all the shops having sales are listed.  PatternPatter Team Sales & Blitz

My Thrift Store Find

I found this duster holder at the thrift store. It has a few spots where bluing was spilled on it, but it was too cute to pass up. The industrious housewife certainly made everything attractive. Even the bag that held her dusters is charmingly embroidered!

"EACH LITTLE MAIDEN HAS A SKIRT
READY FOR YOU TO CHASE THE DIRT"

The dust cloths were put into the three pockets. When you were ready to use one you pulled it out through the hole in the skirt.

Of course I didn't use dust cloths for the skirts . . .  I used vintage hankies. They make much prettier skirts. But don't worry, I'm not going to dust with them!

My Vintage Travel Case of Props

I take a lot of pictures of items I'm listing in my Etsy shops, so I started putting the things I use as props most often in this small vintage suitcase. It helps make picture taking faster and more organized!

I filled it with some vintage linens, large pieces of  antique lace trim, strings of pearls, rhinestones and glass beads. Also some pale pink silk flowers, vintage white gloves, baby shoes and buttons on old cards.

Anything that keeps me from being disorganized is a good thing since I am not the most organized person on the planet! Besides it gave me an excuse to keep this little travel case for myself instead of selling it : )

Shabby Chic Pillows

I made these little pillows from some of my less than perfect vintage linens.

The round one is made from an apron that had a few stains. I just cut around the bad areas and used the rest. The ruffle is made from the apron ties. I did have to do a little seam ripping (taking off the stained pocket and removing the pink trim so I could reuse it).

The square one is made from napkins that I would never have used because they were a satin type of fabric and there were only 2 of them. I added the lace trim.

So next time you are thinking about tossing those vintage linens that have stains you can't remove or a few holes, consider repurposing them instead : )
