My Thrift Store Find

I found this duster holder at the thrift store. It has a few spots where bluing was spilled on it, but it was too cute to pass up. The industrious housewife certainly made everything attractive. Even the bag that held her dusters is charmingly embroidered!

"EACH LITTLE MAIDEN HAS A SKIRT
READY FOR YOU TO CHASE THE DIRT"

The dust cloths were put into the three pockets. When you were ready to use one you pulled it out through the hole in the skirt.

Of course I didn't use dust cloths for the skirts . . .  I used vintage hankies. They make much prettier skirts. But don't worry, I'm not going to dust with them!

  1. Such a cute idea! I love htat vintage look embroidery...my Mother used to do it so beautifullly well....I miss her.
This reminds me of her work. Our eldest daughter has a beautiful baby quilt that my Mother made for her to have for her children. It was supposed to have been hers as a baby, but we didn't get it finished until after she was married! Funny, huh!
Anyway, love how it looks, what a sweet find.
